Document #9
Philada., Pa. Sept. 22nd 1873
A.W. Falkenthal
Yours of 20th is received. I believe I gave you Mrs. Smith’s P.O. Address in my letter. It is Leavenworth, Kansas, but I think she is in Ohio at this time on a visit. I will write to my sister and tell her to send S.J. Smith via your place on her return home. I know they are expecting her soon if not there now. The most important names to get first are Lilly Reed and Martha Harbison. Aunt Lilly is older than Uncle Robert and is fast approaching her end. May drop off any day. She has eight children and they are scattered all over the country. I think you had better send on a power of attorney to me including myself, Alexander McCracken, Margaret Thompson, Jane Clark my sisters. We three are the family of William McCracken, our father now deceased and in that paper you can include Lilly Reed, then you can get the whereabouts of my uncle Henry McCracken’s family through Mrs. S.J. Smith. Mrs. Smith can give you Harbisons P.O. Box also the address of Martha Jane Morrison, daughter of my aunt Mary McCracken deceased. Morrisons live in Leavenworth, Kansas, but I can’t recollect

their P.O. address. Isabella Dooley at Eaton, Preble Co., Ohio can give you the names of their family and their whereabouts, also of the McConnel family. I think there were two children, a son and a daughter. William H. McConnel, the son of Jane McConnel did live in Francisco, Gibson County, Indiana. I think is there yet if living. You can write him and he can give you particulars of their family and any others that he may know. Your first move now is to get up the papers for myself, my sisters, and Aunt Reed. They are most important now and next is Harbisons. Then you will be ready to go to work.
Yours truly,
Alex McCracken

When you get the papers ready, send them to me first. I will sign and forward them to my sisters and Aunt Reed. They have already written me what they should do in the matter. A.M.
