Dear Sir,
I received those papers from my sister Margaret relating to the claim with direction to forward them on to you. I read those papers and seen that Margaret stated that my mother gave the power of attorney to my brother Alexander to go and collect the claim but it seems he did not go. She also says that Sarah Smith whom we gave the power of attorney to collect the claim is my niece and I suppose but do not know her to be my brother Alexander’s daughter. Perhaps one of my sisters or my brother Arthur could give you more information in respect of her and her P.O. address
What she done with the power of attorney I don’t know. All I know is that I signed it and she got it. It may be that she got hold of the papers after Alexander’s death which my mother gave to my brother Alexander. If so and you can get them of her, I think there will be little difficulty in recovering the claim.
I was well pleased with the answer which my sister Margaret gave you. She gave better information than I could possibly give as she was with my mother much more than I after she received the letter with reference to the estate. Much of my information was what I supposed to be the case while she knew all that she said to be so. Before I wrote to any of my sisters or father Margaret sent me the papers and I seen it was all right and do not deem is necessary to write to any of them as I think they will all give you all the information possible and as soon as possible. But I will be willing to do all that I can to assist you after you get all the information you can from all of them. If you please I would like you would bring all the papers down that I may see what information they all give. Please bring down my agreement also as I should like a copy of it. Nothing more at present.
Yours respectfully,
Robert M. McCracken,
